Curious
At Hofield Welly we want children to be curious as it helps them to learn about their environments and develop important problem solving skills.
When a child starts their preschool journey with us we expect our 2 year olds to illustrate their curious nature by using their senses (e.g. touch, taste, sight and smell) to explore the activities on offer and the environment around them.
As they develop children will begin to question the environment and the things they have learnt through their exploration. They will ask who, why, what and where questions in order to further extend their existing knowledge. They may also begin sorting and classifying objects in line with their new and pre-existing knowledge.
Our environment encourages curiosity and creativity through a selection of open ended resources which are always available.
We feel it is also important to promote children’s curiosity about the environment and the world around them. This is why we take them on regular trips and outings e.g. to the shops, park, field and local forest school area to promote their sense of awe and wonder about their culture and the natural world.
